On July 17, 2007 our little angel, Wyatt Henry Loffer, was born at 6:24 am entering the world at 28 weeks & 5 days and weighing 2 lbs 10 oz. His doctors feel he is in excellent health and the nurses in the NICU say "Wyatt is leading the way for the other babies, showing them how it is done!" We have had so much love and support during this time and are thankful for the joy and positive energy being sent our way.

Welcome Home Wyatt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We are so happy to announce that Wyatt is home! Wyatt came home last Friday, September 14, almost two months exactly in the NICU. We have been so thrilled and thankful to have him home with us and cannot express enough our appreciation and thanks to all of you. Your support, thoughts and prayers helped us get through this trying time and we appreciate it immensely. Wyatt is over 6 lbs and rapidly approaching 7 lbs, he is in excellent health and loves to keep us awake at 2 am! Again thank you for your love and support.

Miletstones
Our little guy hit some real milestones in the past few days. He is now 4lbs. and 1 oz and, for the first time, he ate his entire meal from the bottle last night, and then again with me today. Adding to the good news, he was also moved into a bassinet (out of the isolette) today because of his increased weight and ability to keep his body temperature up. All that remains is for him to learn how to eat all his meals using the bottle as well as master breathing, sucking and pooping at the same time. He is really doing great and we thank you for all your love and continued support. Keep the prayers coming, they are really working!

Sweet Pea
I had to post a couple of these photos because they are so darn cute. Nurse Sue and I had fun yesterday putting on Wyatt's Sweet Pea outfit! Wyatt is doing great and currently weighs 1667 grams which is almost 3 lbs. 11 oz.(16 0z. is equal to a pound.) Babies gain approx. 15-30 grams per day and at 1800 grams Wyatt will be moved to a bassinet. The isolette, that he is currently in, helps him regulate his body temperature but at 1800 grams he will be able to do that without the help of an isolette. The little tube you see in his pictures is his feeding tube, which will be removed once he learns to eat in a week or two.

Wyatt moves to west wing
Wyatt had a big day today; he graduated to the west wing of NICU and he is 32 weeks today. The main room he had been in has overflow with new babies. All the stable babies, like Wyatt, were moved to the west wing. The west wing had traditionally been called the transition room, it is a new milestone in his adventure to going home. The babies that are there are the ones that just need to grow!
Wyatt is now up to 30 ml of food every three hours.

Wyatt's first bath!
Wyatt had his first bath today in the NICU!
We were told most babies find the bathing experience to be soothing although Wyatt was not totally convinced. He did enjoy the warm blankets and cozy pajamas he was bundled into afterwards!
Today Wyatt weighs 1515 grams or 3lbs. 5 oz. He is eating 28 ml. every three hours!!!
